The Mercedes-Benz Citan panel van is a compact yet spacious model, which offers a load volume of up to 3.8 cubic metres and strikes a balance between refinement and hardworking practicality.
The Citan comes in three sizes: compact, long and extra-long, with load compartments 1.36m, 1.75m and 2.13m long respectively, and a payload of around 810 kg in the extra-long version. You can fit a standard euro pallet inside, and the flat, vertical sides, low load lip, sliding side door and 180-degree rear doors mean getting loads in and out is straightforward.
There are two seats and a full partition between the cab and the load area, unless you opt for the Tourer people carrier (called the Traveliner before 2015). There's also a Dualiner crew van with up to 3.7 cubic metres of load volume, depending on the seating arrangement, and a Citan Sport model with alloy wheels, air conditioning and a leather steering wheel.
The Citan is a robust van which drives and handles well. The steering is responsive, the ride is comfortable even when fully loaded, and grip is good with not too much lean in corners. Meanwhile, quiet engines, supportive seats and a comfortable driving position make motorway journeys a pleasure.
Available with either a 1.2-litre petrol engine producing 112 bhp or a 1.5-litre diesel producing 74 bhp , 89 bhp or 109 bhp, a used Mercedes-Benz Citan is a powerful option for any business. The Citan was awarded a four-star Euro NCAP crash safety rating in 2013, and all models come with electronic brakeforce distribution and adaptive ESP, which takes the vehicle's load into account.
